Why Is My Computer Slow ? Computer Is Running Slow
posted by: John Andes
"Why is my computer slow?" is a common question, especially among Windows PC users. It's a common problem that tends to arise as your computer gets older.
The reason a computer gets slow over time is not because it's physically getting older, but because Windows tends to get gummed up by various things like broken files, invalid entries, and corrupted folders.
One of the biggest offenders in causing a computer to run too slow is a cluttered and corrupted Windows Registry.
You can speed up a slow computer by using a registry cleaner. Our favorite program for the job is RegCure by ParetoLogic. It does a great job cleaning your Windows registry. It's very easy to use and is extremely fast.

What Is The Windows Registry? Why Is My Computer Slow?
The Windows registry is like the central nervous system of your computer. This is where your PC stores all the important preference and settings files for hardware and software. Windows constantly references these files in order to know how to run everything correctly.
Unfortunately the Windows registry isn't invincible. It's prone to getting cluttered and corrupted.
How Does The Registry Get Damaged? Why Is My Computer Slow?
The registry gets changed every time you install or uninstall a program. The frequent changing of software and hardware can cause registry entries to get "left over" and abandoned. These broken and obsolete files build up, and over time Windows has a much harder time reading the registry properly.
For example, if you were to upgrade the video card in your PC, you would have to uninstall the old drivers and software. Usually these uninstall processes leave behind a bunch of old folders and registry entries. When you install the new card and drivers the old leftover entries can cause problems.
How Can I Clean The Registry? Why Is My Computer Slow?
Although the Windows registry is complicated for even skilled computer technicians, there are special software programs available that will allow you to easily scan the registry and remove the old, corrupt entries.
It's a good idea to run a registry cleaner every couple weeks or so, or after you uninstall software or hardware.
Our favorite registry cleaner is RegCure by ParetoLogic. It's an excellent program that we have had a lot of success with. We tested it on an IBM Thinkpad T42 and it eliminated 726 errors and reduced the total boot time from 4 minutes 42 seconds to 2 minutes 44 seconds. The computer runs much faster and has had no errors or crashes.
ParetoLogic offers users the chance to download RegCure for free and run a scan of their regitsry. We highly recommend doing so.
